Matthew 13:16
“But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.”

Every day is a day of Thanksgiving in the Bible, and I thank God for the blessings each day brings. Preparing for the holiday season, I pause to reflect on a precious moment spent with a stranger—a gift God gave me.

While running an errand over the weekend, I entered a waiting area and approached two chairs to the side. Just as I went to sit, I noticed a family looking for a place to rest. I quickly offered my seat and ventured to another part of the room. I found a chair beside a woman who appeared enthralled in a book.

As I took my seat, she Immediately closed her book, leaned over, and cheerfully greeted me. I’m sure she felt as I did that we both wanted to be somewhere else; however, something happened within our discussion that made it the best part of my day.

The conversation began casually, but before I knew it, she had given me enough information that I felt I knew her for years. I felt energized and full of love, which led me to believe God’s Spirit was within every shared word. In the middle of our chat, I offered her a little holding cross, and she reciprocated with a pocket cross. I smile today as I realize that though we are years apart in age, we are two peas in a pod. Both, always carrying a tangible reminder of our faith which we can gift to others.

I held onto this chance meeting in my memory for the rest of that day and considered it a God-given gift.

I am grateful for how God uses instances like this one to ignite my faith in a way that I want to shout from the mountaintop that Jesus is within me!

Over the year, while promoting Bella’s Beautiful Miracle, I have enjoyed many chance conversations similar to this one. My purpose in writing the book is to bring Jesus into the hearts and homes of everyone I meet!
