"Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16 NRSV

A Different Kind of Advent

I believe it was the First Sunday in Advent when the words from Father’s homily landed in my heart with a thud. A few days prior, I was excited to have my book cover selected for the AllAuthor cover contest. However, I had no idea about the hours of marketing that would go into the promotion. I figured it would be as easy as sitting back and enjoying the ride. It only took a week to realize that would not be the case.

What Father said was no surprise to me; what stung, though, was that I had just embarked on a four-week journey of doing everything needed to market the contest. I could have given up, sat back, and let the chips fall where they may, but that thought quickly dissolved when I reflected on the alternative: giving up and failing God.

I prayed on it for a couple of days, and then a thought set my heart and mind at ease. As a Christian author, my goal is and always has been writing for the glory of God. God reminded me that I wasn’t marketing myself as an author but was putting Christian Fiction in front of many people. Bella’s Beautiful Miracle climbed higher in the rankings, exposing the book and its Christian message.

During this time, I stayed on course with my Advent prayers and responsibilities, fitting what I called marketing Bella at the end of my day. I will admit the adrenaline rush as Bella’s rank fluctuated up and down was sort of fun and stressful at the same time. All in all, I think God and I did a great job.

I am happy to report that Bella finished in fifth place out of 124 book covers. Also, the book is now linked to the AllAuthor website, waiting for God to do with it as He pleases.

I want to thank you all for a beautiful year, and I look forward to sharing more of the stirrings God places in my heart in 2024. God Bless and Happy New Year!
