Luke 10:9 (NRSV)
“The Kingdom of God has come near to you.”
In chapter 10 of Luke’s Gospel, Jesus explains the mission, emphasizing that those who accept the disciples and their teachings shall receive The kingdom of God. The mission was the same as Jesus’ ministry: “cure the sick” and “say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’”
Today marks the nine-month anniversary of my second chance to live this side of heaven, and this Gospel brings up many emotions and memories. In previous posts, I described my visions of the crown of thorns and how I knew that God was there holding me in His healing arms. Today, I am reminded that Jesus visited me on that glorious day.
The mission on that day was survival. The disciples at my bedside were family, doctors, and nurses, all working together. As the visions of Jesus’ crown began to appear, just as the scripture states, “The kingdom of God came near to me.”
The seventy disciples were to bring Jesus’ messages to those with open doors, hearts, eyes, and ears. The kingdom of God was the reward for those who accepted this heavenly invitation.
I reflect today on all the times I boldly accepted Jesus into my heart. I don’t have one that stands out as the “day I was saved;” rather, I have saving grace moments when I fought doubt and offered my heart to Jesus.
I am confident that because of my relationship with Jesus, the visions appeared in my darkest moments as His way of showing me God’s saving grace. The emotional support of my family and those praying for me were also signs that I was being held in healing arms.
The many moments I proclaimed God as my savior, the faithful life I have led, and the relationships I made because of my faith resulted in a massive group of prayer warriors who fell to their knees on my behalf! I am forever grateful to each one of you.
My last journal entry, from January 18, 2024, before the miracle, states, “I know God is about to move mountains.” Two hours later, God moved the most prominent mountain of my life, all because somebody prayed. Today, I continue to walk the mission Jesus has laid upon my heart and live this side of heaven, all because somebody prayed, and I believed!
Please share your prayer warrior moments in the comments section. Together, we can become like the seventy and carry on Jesus’ mission!
