Synopsis Bella the caterpillar leads a happy and content life in her tree in the Royal Forest. However, one terrifying night, Bella is uprooted by a sudden and violent storm, carrying her far from home. When her cries to God go unanswered (or so she thinks), Bella’s colors fade away, leaving her washed out and hopeless. Paralyzed by fear and lacking faith, Bella swirls through the air and lands in the most peculiar place; atop a snail shell. Mira, a snail with a bright and beautiful shell, explains to Bella that in order to regain her color, she must restore her faith in God. To do this, Mira invites Bella along on a journey of spiritual renewal. As they wander through the Meadows of the Royal Forest, Bella aspires to be all that Mira is, constantly looking for God’s light and outward sparkle to shine upon her. Surprises abound for Bella in places such the Glowing Bush, the Cave of Blessings, and the Hollow Rock. God sends new friends on Bella’s path to inspire and motivate her passion for renewed faith and vibrant color. Gracie the grasshopper uses music to inspire Bella to allow God into her heart. Andy the caterpillar introduces Bella to the tree of spiritual fruit, where those seeking God’s gifts never go hungry. Her path is often lit by the swirling fireflies God uses as an instrument for writing His word. Through it all, a sense of renewal grows in Bella, and her strength and courage begin to show in the outward appearance of new colors. However, Bella learns along the way that her transformation in God’s love will involve much more than just her stripes. Bella’s Beautiful Miracle is a story of loss, healing, the transformative power of God, and the path He lays out for each one of us. Through her journey, Bella learns that pain and loss can be the start of a beautiful new beginning and that through scars, God’s light shines even brighter. Most of all, Bella learns that by surrendering to God, she is renewed in His love.

Talk about an exciting moment! Surprisingly, walking into the library to search for Bella made me a bit nervous. I can’t explain the reasons behind that emotion, but I was shaky. She was nestled in the Juvenile Fiction section, looking so cute among the other books. I had realized my dream of seeing her on a shelf other than my own, let alone in a public place.
I am happy to see how God works through me by using Bella and her story. My conversations with parents, grandparents, and children have been amazing; each carried its blessing. I pray that each one who reads Bella and encounters the adventures within the story becomes blessed and enveloped in God’s Love!
